A22 Tolls Abolished as of January 1, 2025

8 January, 2025

The law eliminating tolls on the Algarve’s A22 motorway and other former SCUT roads has officially come into effect, as published in Diário da República on August 7, 2024.

According to Law nº37/2024, which repeals Decree-Law nº 97/2023, tolls are removed from sections of interior motorways and routes without alternative, quality, and safe options.

In addition to the A22 (Via do Infante), tools are also abolished on the A4 (Transmontana and Túnel do Marão), A13 and A13-1 (Pinhal Interior), A23 (Beira Interior), A24 (Interior Norte), A25 (Beiras Litoral and Alta), and A28 (Litoral Norte) between Esposende and Antas, and Neiva and Darque.

This change officially took effect on January 1, 2025.
